The rifles of WWII by JiangYingzi The rifles of WWII by JiangYingzi
So here's a photograph that I actually took. It's my dad's collection of WWII rifles. From top to bottom they are:

M1 Carbine (USA, .30, semi-auto)
M1891 Mosin-Nagant (Russian, 7.62 x 54mm, bolt action)
M1 "Garand" (USA, .30-06, semi-auto)
MAS 36 (French, 7.5 x 54mm, bolt action)
Lee-Enfield Mk IV (British, .303, bolt action)
Mauser K98k (German, 7.92 x 57mm, bolt action)
Arisaka Type 38 (Japanese, 6.5 x 50mm, bolt action)
Carcano M91 (Italian, 6.5 x 52mm, bolt action)

Still working on getting the lighting right, but my dad's den is pretty dark.

Great collection! Are they servicable, that is, do they work?

They are all either serviceable or repairable. I've fired the M1 Carbine, the Garand, the Mauser, and the Carcano. The Carbine, I've gotta say, is sweet to fire and easy to handle. It's so comparatively small caliber, of course.

My father acquired most of these weapons at traveling gun shows. It took him years and a lot of patience to find all of these.

He did not. He was born in the late 30's and literally grew up with WWII, though.

Nice. I have started collecting firearms from the WWI and WWII eras and I hope to eventually obtain a collection containing rifles like this.

The carbine is light and really easy to shoot. Supposedly the American troops in WWII loved it, and it's easy to tell why.

You should see my collection of rifles from the war. Your dad's ain't bad, but I see an error in your list. This Lee-Enfield is a Mk4, not a Mk1. See my collection if your not sure, but I'm correct. Just to point that out to you! =)

You guys have a wonderful collection, and the correction on the Mk4 is duly noted. The error was mine, not my father's.

My dad's collection is actually much larger that what's shown in this photo...he actually lends parts of it out to local museums. I bet he'd love to get in touch with your re-enactment company...I'm going to give him your web address.

He forgot the M1903 Springfield and the M1917 Enfield in there. LOL!!!

Nice pic, BTW; he can still get both from the CMP (www.odcmp.com) and you could probably own your own M1 Garand too.

:w00t: to American rifles.

I guess I haven't checked DA in awhile! Thanks for the comment. My father desperately wants an M1903, but I think the M1917's a bit too WWI for his tastes. I didn't know the CMP had either, though, so thanks for the tip.

wow, that's pretty amazing! My dad loves the Civil War and WWII! ^__^ Oh, I got the TKD shirt inked...it just needs to be colored.. hehe. sorry if it's being done soo late in the game ^_^;; I'm just paranoid about it not being good and I get pretty perfectionistic with drawings...so it takes me forever. *sigh*
